About the Project
NCBio ERA CHAIR
The ERA Chair project is an action by the European Commission which aims to boost the visibility and scientific excellence of the i3S in the field of Neural Cell Biology (NCBio).
This is achieved by recruiting and maintaining an outstanding group leader—the ERA Chair Holder—who will bring change to the research and innovation landscape of the region by increasing its research excellence and competitiveness.
Find out who is the ERA Chair Holder here and the research team here and how the team aims to build a center for European excellence for (non-neuronal) glial biology.
The goals of the NCBio ERA Chair project are:
a) Establish a new research group, composed of highly-qualified individuals who are offered attractive and competitive work conditions;
b) Capacitate the institute’s scientific and research administration and grant preparation;
c) Upgrade the current doctoral programs by establishing a new module in neural cell biology;
d) Engage stakeholder communities thereby positioning the i3S closer to the patient groups and to the health market via the NCBio Stakeholder Hub.
NCBio underlying concepts
Pillars of NCBio
1.
Improve research into glia biology through support and promotion of innovation
2.
Actively contribute to upgrading postgraduate education in neuroscience to take a truly integrated view of brain function
3.
Improve translational research by promoting novel basic research and facilitating its dissemination to the medical community, patient organizations, pharmaceutical industry and policy-makers (via the NCBio Hub).
