During Brain Awareness Week, the Synapse Biology Group took an exciting dive into the wonders of the brain, visiting two schools and a correctional facility to spark curiosity and passion for neuroscience. Students got hands-on with a fascinating activity—preparing biological samples to reveal the glowing beauty of “fluorescent” astrocytes and neurons under the microscope!

But the excitement didn’t stop there. Students explored how different brain regions are affected by neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, making real-world connections between symptoms and the brain’s complex inner workings. It was a powerful, eye-opening experience that brought the magic of brain science out of textbooks and into eager hands.
